Joanne Weglage Memorial Scholarship
Jo-Jo
Joanna Heather Weglage, known to friends as JoJo, was born on July 14, 1984. You might have also known Joanna by the nickname given to her from her father - Joanna Banana.  Joanna was an active and bubbly child who enjoyed swimming. Her mother passed away when she was very young leaving her father, Paul, to raise two lively little girls.  Jo and her dad were very close.  Jo was his little buddy and she thought the world of him

Joanna loved Marching Band, Winter Guard, and everything about living in the little town called Miamisburg. She was a very caring person and dearly loved her friends and family. She lived for the moments with friends as the social butterfly in any gathering. Joanna was never shy about anything! Of course not...she was Joanna. Her laugh was something you'd never forget; loud, jovial, just Jo. Joanna had many friends throughout her school years but as the years progressed, two very close friends found experiencing life in the company of Joanna as many of their greatest adventures - Joanna, Emily Spegal and Tiffany Sweeney. They loved each others as sisters, learning the true meaning of friendship, respect, and admiration for a friend called JoJo.

Whether attending a prom with Jo, traveling to a band/guard performance, helping her do her first oil change, or loaning her 11 cents for that glass of water in the Wright State cafeteria, we're all very thankful we were blessed with the time we were given.

On January 16th, 2003, tragedy struck when Joanna was killed in an automobile accident. She was laid to rest at Highland Cemetery next to her mother. Her headstone reads "lived life to the fullest". Anyone that knew Joanna would know that was the perfect statement for Joanna and the way she loved life.

Two Scholarships are presented annually; one to the most deserving senior Winter Guard member (Joanna's passion), another to the most deserving senior member of the clarinet section (Joanna's instrument in the marching band).
